چکیده

An important problem in applied science is the continuous nonlinear filtering problem, i.e., the estimation of a Langevin state that is observed indirectly. In this paper, it is shown that Euclidean quantum mechanics is closely related to the continuous nonlinear filtering problem. The key is the configuration space Feynman path integral representation of the fundamental solution of a Fokker-Planck type of equation termed the Yau Equation of continuous-continuous filtering. A corollary is the equivalence between nonlinear filtering problem and a time-varying Schrödinger equation.

A Nonlinear Quantum Model of the Friedmann Universe

A discussion is given of the quantisation of a physical system with finite degrees of freedom subject to a Hamiltonian constraint by treating time as a constrained classical variable interacting with an unconstrained quantum state. This leads to a quantisation scheme that yields a Schrödinger-type equation which is in general nonlinear in evolution. Nevertheless it is compatible with the probab...

A Schrödinger Equation for the Fast Computation of Approximate Euclidean Distance Functions

Computational techniques adapted from classical mechanics and used in image analysis run the gamut from Lagrangian action principles to HamiltonJacobi field equations: witness the popularity of the fast marching and fast sweeping methods which are essentially fast Hamilton-Jacobi solvers. In sharp contrast, there are very few applications of quantum mechanics inspired computational methods. Giv...

Eventum Mechanics of Quantum Trajectories: Continual Measurements, Quantum Predictions and Feedback Control

Quantum mechanical systems exhibit an inherently probabilistic nature upon measurement which excludes in principle the singular direct observability continual case. Quantum theory of time continuous measurements and quantum prediction theory, developed by the author on the basis of an independent-increment model for quantum noise and nondemolition causality principle in the 80’s, solves this pr...

Universe as a Phase Boundary in a Four-Dimensional Euclidean Space

It is proposed that space is a four-dimensional Euclidean space with universal time. Originally this space was filled with a uniform substance, pictured as a liquid, which at some time became supercooled. Our universe began as a nucleation event initiating a liquid to solid transition. The universe we inhabit and are directly aware of consists of only the three-dimensional expanding phase bound...
